MAHANTONGO VALLEY EMERGENCY SERVICES BOARD
MEETING MINUTES
JULY 12, 2007
Chairman Todd Mace called the Mahantango Valley Emergency Services Board of Directors meeting to order at 19:04. There were 6 people present.
The monthly meeting minutes for May and June were approved on a motion by Brian S. and second by Eric S. MC
Eric S read the treasures report. Income was $405.00 Expenses were $201.24
Balance in Checking account as of 7/12/07 is $203.76.
Motion by Dennis W. Second by Brian to accept the treasures report. MC
Fire Report: Brian stated that the Fire chiefs met and discussed some problems that need to be addressed to Northumberland County. He also stated they were going to contact commissioner K. Masser about these problems.
Herndon will be holding their Community Day on Sept. 8, 2007.
Lower Mahanoy are planning a two day event with Out House races on Sept. 8, 2007.
After hearing Herndon is definitely having their Community Day Lower Mahanoy will look at other dates to possibly have their 2 day festivities.
The following companies or townships have sent their papers back to be members of this organization; Pillow Fire Company, Klingerstown Fire Company, Dalmatia Area Ambulance and Jackson Township.
We received a letter from the Anthracite Area Mutual Aid Association asking for 2 reps and 2 alternate reps from our organization to join them and a organization similar to ours that is forming in the Sunbury area at this time. They would like to meet and discuss the possibility of the 3 organizations working together to address issue with Northumberland County. They stated in the letter this would be to better the County and plan for the future. Eric stated that 2 people should meet with some from the other organization prior to us committing to this. We should find out their intentions before committing.
EMS: Eric thanked everyone for the great turn out for the Mock drill held at the High school in May. A big thank you went to Brian for coming through in the last hours with a vehicle. We did have a lot of students that were discussing the drill throughout the day. Mrs. Wiest stated that she heard students talking about they had no idea of what could happen. She also stated that she heard a few students making a big joke about it. I had told her those would be the students we end up picking up off the roadway.
Police: N/A
Fire Police: N/A
Citizens Group: Still looking for someone to head this group.
Training: Ron Hinkley sated he had sent out an email with a list of training classes. He will get more details and dates as soon as people let him know about which classes they are interested in. The Essentials class at Klingerstown has moved into phase 2. They will be suspending classes until after carnival season. They will resume classes in August and then decide whether to move into phase 3.
Ron also stated that he is still trying to get a list together of the companies training officers. Please summit your training officers to Ron.
Grants: We should be getting our Wal-Mart grant in the third quarter. We are not sure the amount but will appreciate any that we get.
We will be applying for the state grant as soon as it is available.
Recruitment: We are still looking for someone that would be interested in taking charge of the recruitment of personnel.
Fire Prevention: There was much discussion on what to do for Fire Prevention this year.
More discussion and ideas will be held at next months meeting.
Emergency Preparedness: N/A
OLD Business:
Small games of chance license is still in the workings.
Checking account has been established at Mid-Penn Bank
Family Day – Need to get with Matt to see if he has looked into anything further.
Discussion on having another sandwich sale – may hold off until winter months
Ron suggested maybe having a Car Show. Ron will bring more info about this to the next meeting.
Corporation status – Todd has not heard back from the attorney as of today. He will try to contact him again.
NEW Business:
Discussion on non – members; A motion by Eric to remove non-members from our website and that all companies must be a member by a predetermined date or they will not be eligible for any grant money this organization receives and must remain a member for 10 years if they receive money. Second by Brian MC
