Meeting Minutes

March 8, 2007

 

The Executive Board of the Mahantongo Valley Emergency Services Board met on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the Pillow Fire House.  The following members were present:

Secretary Report: The Minutes were read from the previous meeting held on February 8, 2007.  A motion was made by Tom to accept the minutes and seconded by Eric. Motion Carried.

 

Treasurers Report:  The balance is $14.94.  A motion by Brian to accept the Treasurers Report and seconded by Tom.  Motion carried.

 

Citizen Input – None

 

Discipline Reports:

·         Fire       - None

 

·         EMA     - Todd reported that Chad Willard has resigned from Herndon Borough EMA

 

·         Citizens-at-Large – Kim Weigand has resigned from the MVESB as of this meeting.  A replacement is needed.  The other people in this group will be contacted for interests.

 

·         EMS     - None

 

·         Police   - None

 

·         Fire Police – None

 

Committee Reports:

 

Training:  Ron stated that two classes are scheduled.  EVOC will be on April 19 & 21 only.  Also, a class is being considered on Module 1 of Essentials.

 

Grant: Todd submitted an application to Wal-Mart in Selinsgrove for a $3000 Safe Neighborhood Heroes Grant.

 

Recruitment:  We are still looking for a volunteer.

 

 

 

Fire Prevention/Emergency Preparedness: A letter from the Susquehanna Valley Shield of Caring Association was received asking if the MVESB could assist with the Safety Trailer at the Annual Kid Care ID & Carnival Event on Saturday, May 12, 2007 starting at 10 AM.  After some discussion, Eric made a motion to attend the event and Tom seconded the motion.  Motion Carried.

 

Audit:  None

 

By-Laws:  We received the official letter stating that Herndon Fire Company has joined the MVESB.  Bob Masser mentioned that some of the municipalities have commented on the Dues part of the By-Laws.  After some discussion, Bob suggested that the MVESB sends a letter to all municipalities explaining that particular section of the By-Laws.  Tom made a motion agreeing with Bob’s suggestion and added that the MVESB would not be asking for dues unless the absolutely need funding.  The motion was seconded by Eric.  Motion carried.

 

Correspondence: - None

 

Old Business:

  • Todd gave an update on the MVESB incorporation status.
  • The MVESB asked for assistance from its membership for the first annual Family Day.
  • Ideas and suggestions were discussed again concerning fundraising ideas for the MVESB.  Todd explained that he is still waiting to hear back from Dauphin County Treasures office about the small games of chance license.  Brian said he would also check into what needs to be done to obtain a license.
  • The Pillow Borough meeting is on March 13 at 1930 hours.  The MVESB will be making their presentation at that time.
  • The newsletter idea has been tabled.

 

 

New Business:

  • Todd asked the MVESB their thoughts on opening a checking account.  After some discussion, Brian volunteered to check with the local banks to see what each offers.
  • A discussion was held about the Special Events page on the website.  Todd encouraged all member organizations to list the upcoming events.

 

 

The next meeting of the MVESB will be on April 12, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the Pillow Fire House.

 

A motion was made by Eric to adjourn and seconded by Tom at 8:00 PM.
